Our Work
What We Do
The Alan Shearer Short Break Centre is part of St Cuthberts Care, a charitable organisation with over 60 years experience in social care in the North East. Our purpose is to work for the common good by enabling people to develop to their personal potential.
Our centre, registered for both children and adults at separate times, provides short breaks for people in a specially adapted setting. Our aim is to provide personally tailored care and support in a fun, stimulating but relaxing environment.
We are people focused; we work alongside families, carers and other professionals to ensure guests’ breaks with us are planned, safe and fulfilling. We welcome feedback and comments on our service and we are always happy to meet with families, carers and guests to listen and to discuss how our short break centre and its facilities can be improved.
The centre is used by people with disabilities from across Newcastle, the wider North East region and beyond. Referrals are accepted from social workers, healthcare professionals and independently by families. Demand for our service is high.
